OCCO Meeting with Jim Shaw, Ohio Attorney General's Office

Join the OCCO for our next meeting on Wednesday, May 22nd at 10am at the County Commissioner's Meeting Room. Our speaker will be Jim Shaw of the Ohio Attorney General's Office Mt. Vernon Project. Jim will speak on this new initiative by Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost to educate and prepare pubic officials for their roles. 

 

Jim Shaw

Jim was born and raised in Columbiana County, OH near the city of East Liverpool. He attended Youngstown State University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History, and then attended the University of Akron to receive his Master of Arts in Political Science. During his time at Akron he also served as a Teaching and Research Assistant for the Political Science Department.

During his career Jim has worked at all three levels of government. Early in his career he worked at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station performing administrative work for the 910th Engineer Section. After a brief time with a non-profit organization, Jim joined the Mahoning County Board of Elections as their Fiscal Manager.

In 2017 Jim joined the Auditor of State’s office as the East Ohio Regional Liaison under then Auditor of State Dave Yost. In his time at the Auditor’s office Jim serviced ten counties in east & northeast Ohio by providing clear and effective communication with the local governments, chambers of commerce, and other civic and quasi-governmental groups.

After the 2018 election, Jim moved to central Ohio to begin a similar role in the Attorney General’s office. Jim currently covers eleven counties in the central Ohio region with a focus on law enforcement, local governments, and chambers of commerce. In addition to these duties Jim also designed and manages The Mount Vernon Project: School of Public Service.

Jim currently resides in Fairfield County with his wife Allison and their two cats.
